Multicultural Festival for Iraqi Children - Australia
AID
FOR CHILDREN OF FALLUJAH
On the 5th of November, 2005 in Melbourne, Australia there will be a day to
raise awareness of the plight of children orphaned in Fallujah, and to raise
funds to assist them. Please add to the International Peace Train at the
World Dreams Peace Bridge table. A selection of Peace Train art already
created around the world, since the project began in 2002 ,will be on
display. There will also be flyers for the Aid for Traumatised Children
Project, run through the World Dreams Peace Bridge, which specifically works
with Iraqi professionals, such as doctors and psychiatrists and teachers, to
help Iraqi children deal with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor
Moreland Peace Group wishes to thank all those organisations and individuals
who helped make the Multicultural Festival such a success. We raised nearly
$3,000 which we can send to Doctors for Iraq Society. These funds will help
provide medical needs for Iraqi children in areas where there is an
humanitarian crisis, such as western Iraq.
About 300 people attended the festival and many others assisted with
publicity and preparation. In the context of the serious attack on civil
liberties in Australia
we hope that we have been able to build stronger links with a range of
community organisations, especially the Muslim community who are suffering
more scapegoating.
Our next event will be held on Tuesday 29 November (7pm) at Caffe Mingo (600
Sydney Rd Brunswick) when we will welcome Donna Mulhearn who was a "Human
Shield" in Iraq at the time of invasion. She also visited Cindy Sheehan who
recently held a vigil outside the Bush ranch, in memory of her son, an
American soldier killed in Iraq.
There will be lots of time for discussion at this forum. As
US-British-Australian forces get bogged down in Iraq, the peace movement in
the US is growing and we look forward to new opportunities to change
our governmment's policies in Australia as well. Bring Australian troops
home.
